A coming of age film that takes place in the fifties. Twelve years old Sandy lives with her parents and two sisters on an idyllic fruit orchard in Penticton, British Columbia. Naturally, she's not happy: Her parents treat her as a child and boy prospects are bleak. One night her wild fifteen year old cousin Buck arrives from California. She thinks he's dreamy but he tries to ignore her. The film brings to life a sense of the fifties and the world of a young girl wishing to stop being one.

Tate soon learns that there are some people who don't want him snooping about for information -- and they'll go to great lengths to prevent him from doing so.
