In 1630s New England, a devout Christian family is banished from their Puritan settlement and forced to build a farm on the edge of a remote wilderness. When their infant son vanishes and crops fail, the family is consumed by paranoia and religious fervor. They begin to suspect that an evil supernatural presence lurking in the nearby woods is manipulating them and testing their faith.
On a remote New England island in the 1890s, two lighthouse keepers struggle to maintain their sanity while battling isolation and treacherous weather.
