Already in his childhood, Pablo Picasso shows talent for painting and is sent to the Academy of Arts in Madrid. He becomes a painter but has to live in Paris in poverty. But one day he is discovered by a rich American millionaire and starts to earn money. But he wastes his talent by painting plates. He meets the famous people of the 1920s; Gertrude Stein, Alice B. Sonell is a 30-something bachelor working as a translator of comics, who, when he laughs, makes a weird sound, frightening people away. In order to deal with this he sees a psyhciatrist who starts digging in his troubled childhood at a farm next to the Swedich border. He also meets his Swedish childhood girlfriend, now living in Norway, again, and starts dating her.
