Vienna 1945. The Second World War is coming to an end and the Russians are occupying the city. The homeless and poverty-stricken family of nine-year-old Christine (Zita Gaier), called Christl, in her desperation, moves into a noble, abandoned villa in the Viennese district of Neuwaldegg. When the Nazis surrender and the war actually comes to an end, some soldiers of the Red Army are quartered there.
A couple facing fertility issues finds their marriage tested on a vacation to a Sardinian resort - and the family next door only adds to the tension. (imdb)
