Santhanam

Subramaniyam (Prakash Raj), a well-to-do architect, dominates his son Santhosh's (Jayam Ravi) life in every way, right from selecting a shirt, to selecting a wife. Santhosh gets forcefully engaged to Rajeshwari (Kirat Bhattal), but later he meets bubbly Hasini (Genelia D'Souza) & they fall in love. To make his father & the rest of the family accept Hasini, Santhosh takes her home to live with his family for a week, during which he tries to get her to win over his family, with disastrous results.

Goutham (Surya) & Kundavi (Jyothika) are married with a 5 year old daughter Aishwarya (Shriya). When Goutham goes on a work-related trip to USA, Kundavi happens to go through his old belongings & stumbles upon his old diary. She learns about an old college flame of his - Aishwarya (Bhoomika) - whom he almost married & but was forced to separate from. Reading what he wrote about him wanting to spend at least a day with Aishwarya, Kundavi finds & brings back Aishwarya to spend a day with Goutham.

DSP Jayaprakash aka Jay (Prabhu) has long been on the trail of dreaded criminal David Billa (Ajith) & finally kills him by accident. To catch the whole of Billa's gang, along with his boss, the mysterious Jagadish, Jay gets Velu (Ajith), Billa's lookalike, to pose as Billa & infiltrate his gang. In an encounter, Jay gets killed, & the blame falls on Velu, whom the cops assume to be Billa. Velu goes on the run, with the cops & Jagadish's gang, who learned that he isn't Billa, on his tail.

'Kireedam' is the remake of the landmark Malayalam film of the same name, directed by Sibi Malayil & written by Lohitadas. The Tamil version has Ajith and Trisha in the lead role along with Raj Kiran essaying an important role. The movie is an intense character study both of a young man, Shaktivel (Ajith), whose bright future deteriorates before his very eyes as he slips into the world of crime & of his father Rajarajan (Raj Kiran) who is forced to watch helplessly as it happens.
