After a major terrorist bomb blast in Coimbatore which leaves scores dead, Anti Terrorist Squad D.I.G. Stalin Manimaran (Prakash Raj) arrests the prime suspect in the case, Muslim community leader & businessman Babu Sait (Lal), but who subsequently gets out on bail due to lack of evidence. While inside the jail, Sait had met an orphaned young man, Anwar (Prithviraj), whom he indoctrinates for jihad after getting out, & together they plan for further bomb blasts in Kochi & subsequently, Mumbai.
The story of a poor attar (a kind of perfume) seller Abu (Salim Kumar) whose only remaining wish in life is the Hajj pilgrimage, which he strives hard to fulfill, and at the verge of the fulfillment, he opts out when he fears that the means is not fully legitimate. (wikipedia)
Ashwathy (Kavya Madhavan), a Hindu, after her husband dies in an accident, goes to Saudi Arabia as a house maid. There, she faces terrible abuses in the hands of her employers, escapes from there, goes missing & is later accused of theft. Razak Kottekkad (Sreenivasan), a social worker, takes an interest in her case, & tries to track her down.
3 cousins, Bhaskaranunni Raja (Indrajith), Sankaraunni Raja (Jayasurya) & Ramanunni Raja (Kunchako Boban), who were always at each other's throats, go in search of hidden treasure belonging to their ancestors, after they stumble upon a treasure map, & tagged along by their girlfriends Manju (Sandhya), Anju (Samvrutha Sunil) & Renju (Ann Augustine), who also happened to be sisters. At each step of the way, they try to outsmart each other to get to the treasure first.
Manikoth Ajayachandran Nair (Jayaram), having made his fortune in the Middle East, returns to his village & flaunts his wealth to gain social acceptance. But his business plans go wrong & he starts to financially crumble, which culminates in him breaking the promise of paying for his daughter Achu's (Anu Emmanuel) friend Lakshmi's surgery. Achu attempts suicide in ignominy & Ajayachandran leaves the village in disgrace. Years later, a now grown up Lakshmi (Meera Nandan) runs into Ajayachandran.
'Urumi' is set in the backdrop of the fierce warrior clans of Northern Kerala in the 16th century & is the story of Chirakkal Kelu Nayanar (Prithviraj), whose target is Dom Vasco da Gama, the Viceroy of Portuguese Empire in India, to avenge the death of his father Chirakkal Kothuvval (Arya), who was killed by da Gama. Kelu is aided in his journey by his constant companion Vavvali (Prabhu Deva) & a Muslim warrior princess Ayesha (Genelia) of the famed Arackal sultanate.
Battling a degenerative eye disease, Ajayan (Dileep) tries to make ends meet for his wife Safiya (Priyanka Nair) & son Deepu (Sidharth). When Safiya gets pregnant a second time, they abort the child to give more love & attention to Deepu. However, when Deepu goes missing after a bomb blast & the couple is overcome with sorrow, they reminisce their abortion decision & think of Deepu's disappearance as payback for it. Ajayan embarks on a long & harrowing search to find his son.
Ajayan Menon (Mohanlal), having made his fortune in the Middle East, has settled down in his home village to be with his mother Ammukutty Amma (Sheela) & lead a peaceful life. Now middle-aged, Ajayan gets a kick out of boasting to his friends about a fictitious wanton life he had during his younger years. His worst nightmare comes true however, when a teenage boy (Rahul Pillai) shows up & claims to be his son & everyone believes the boy. Ajayan resorts to various ways to get rid of the boy.
Gracy (Sharada) was a leading actress of the yesteryear who discontinued acting & disappeared from the limelight. Now mentally imbalanced, Gracy lives a life of relative solitude, with a couple of helpers. Aleena (Mamta Mohandas), a journalist, walks into Gracy's life with the intend of doing a documentary on her, but soon Aleena's interests also spread out to uncovering the real reasons behind Gracy's departure from the cinema & the cause of her mental illness.
Pavi (Nishan) & his 4 friends lead a lazy life, much to the annoyance of their parents. Pavi dreams of becoming a director some day, while the rest of them play truant at their existing jobs. Pavi meets Maya (Mithra Kurian) & a string of spats ensue, which climaxes in Pavi announcing his "love" to Maya in front of her family on the day of her betrothal, to get back at her. But to Pavi's surprise, Maya walks out of her home with Pavi & Pavi is forced to marry her.
5 friends, ex-gangster Kalappurackal Sunny (Lal), failed gambler Murugan (Nedumudi Venu), hotelier Tomy (Prashant Narayanan), club singer Aloshy (Asif Ali) & smuggler Basheer, pool in 50 lakhs each towards a drug deal to make a combined profit of at least 2.5 crores, but everything goes awry when one of them decides to double-cross the rest & get away with all of the money. The failure to recognize the traitor in their midst starts to cost each of them their life.
'Friday', told in the format of 'hyperlink cinema', tells the stories of many people who in a town on 11-11-11, whose lives gets interwoven together by a couple of incidents. In the first incident, an elderly man (Nedumudi Venu) loses the jewellery & cash he had set aside for his granddaughter's wedding in an autorickshaw driven by Balu (Fahad Fazil) & goes in frantic search for it. In the second incident, most of the characters in the movie end up in a boat which meets with an accident.
Gopikrishnan (Mammootty), a guard at the Vellimala dam, claims to be a war veteran, but is the subject of ridicule in Vellimala because of him being scared of night shifts & because of his claims of seeing ghosts. Varghese (Sreenivasan), the incorruptible new dam engineer stumbles onto a plot by the high & powerful to cast the dam as unsafe thereby evacuating the surrounding village so that they could illegally mine the sand from the dam. Then Varghese goes missing & Gopi swears to find him.
Savithri (Rima Kallingal), the wife of a high-salaried professional Nandagopan (Murali Gopi) & mother of two, is a litterateur & a talented chess player, who reigns supreme at her local chess club. But her pride is crushed by a young man called Shishir (Praveen Anidil) who bests Savithri at the game. During the summer, as her family is away, Savithri gets to know Shishir more, & as she finds herself attracted to him, she is torn between the thoughts of her family & her feelings for him.
Najeeb (Maqbool Salmaan) is a youngster from an orthodox Muslim family who wishes to be a film star against his father's wishes, while Savithri (Mythili) is a motherless girl from a poor family who lands up in the film industry to escape her abusive father Gopi (Sasi Kalinga). The duo get a chance to be the lead pair in a film that appears to be an ordinary love story but turns out to be a sleaze-fest when it releases. The pair, subsequently, is ostracized from society.
Balu (Aju Varghese), who goes to Chennai for an interview gets kidnapped & the kidnapper demands Rs. 10,000 in ransom, to be delivered into Balu's bank account in 2 hours. Balu contacts his friend in Kochi, Kishore (Indrajith), an ad filmmaker, for the money. Balu, en route to reconciling with his estranged wife Surya (Mamta Mohandas), is forced to put that aside & run around Kochi to arrange for the money.
Chandran Pillai (Jayaram) is a widower from a village in Kerala. Bhama (Meera Nandan), who is a teacher, wants to get married to Chandran Pillai & be a mother to his son, whom she likes a lot. Chandran travels to Madirasi to buy a brand new bike for his son. There he is drawn into a very vicious circle when he goes probing the disappearance of Johny (Kalabhavan Mani), a police constable & locks horns with Devaram (John Vijay), Superintendent of Police.
10-year old Ryan Philip (Sanoop Santhosh), an incorrigible student & a nightmare to his teachers, suddenly turns over a new leaf after he comes in possession of a magical monkey pen (a pen shaped like a monkey). The pen starts off doing Ryan's homework, saving him from punishment, followed by mending fences with Ryan's teachers & finally earning him an award for the best student of the school. In the process, the pen makes Ryan realize that only his own hard work would pay off in the end.
Puthenpurakkal Alex Kurian (Asif Ali), a rich spoiled brat, ends up in jail for counterfeiting, but breaks out of prison with Akbar Ali (Sunny Wayne), a young man from Lakshadweep. Given an offer to not press charges & an early release by Alex's uncle & jailor Mathew (Joju George), provided Alex & Akbar were to return to prison by next day 7 PM, Alex chases Akbar down to Lakshadweep to bring him back. There, Alex learns of Akbar's love story with Isa (Swati Reddy) & the reason he went to prison.
Neil John Samuel (Fahadh Faasil), a sales manager at a car dealership, comes in possession of a bag containing INR 1 crore, which belonged to builder Isaac (Renji Panicker) who meant to buy a rare gem with it, which was supposed to bring him luck. Neil is chased by a gangster Makudi Das (Joju George) & his gang as Neil had a run-in with Das's brother (Nandan Unni). Meanwhile Neil's girlfriend Pia (Niveda Thomas) was trying to raise money for her charity, to perform surgery for 5 kids.
Mathai (Jayasurya), an auto-driver who often intervenes in others' personal issues needlessly, tries to resolve a conflict between a doctor, Dr. Nandagopan (Mukesh) & his wife Geetha (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy), but ends up complicating the matter further.
Shilpa (Ramya Nambeeshan), a Dubai-based single mother with 2 kids - Pachu (Gourav Menon) & Ammu (Sayuri Arun) - finds it difficult to manage them in between her hectic work schedule & decides to send them off to a boarding school in Kodaikanal. Her parents (Vijayaraghavan & Shari) in Kerala entrusts Shilpa's cousin & village boy Sreekuttan (Jayasurya) with the task of chaperoning the kids to Kodaikanal, with hilarious & disastrous results.
Shubha (Bhama) always dreamt of marrying someone based in the US, but she is tricked into marrying Vinayan (Indrajith) who was based in Kenya. Shubha is tricked to move to Kenya, but after an initial outburst, she reconciles with Vinayan & settles into a happy life. However, soon afterwards, they both get embroiled in a mess where they are forced to kill a tribal leader's son in self-defense & go on the run from the tribals & from an internal criminal called Anton Kulasingham (Murali Gopy).
Alby Mathew (Vineeth Sreenivasan), an aspiring movie maker, get embroiled in a potential crime, when he believes he murdered his neighbor Sudhi Ramachandran (Vijay Babu).
