Daisy is the love of Ken's life - she is also large... and very pretty... and on the dole. But Ken is a dreamer, all his dreams to make a fast buck ending up where they started - as dreams. With the rent unpaid, the bailiffs at the door and Ken's dreams in tatters, Daisy sets out to bring home the bacon and gets a job in the local factory. Father Goddard hears confessions at a catholic school. In confession, student Benjamin Stanfield tells Goddard that he has accidentally murdered his friend and buried him in the forest. Goddard investigates the matter and finds a buried scarecrow. Shortly after, Stanfield once again enters the confession booth, telling Goddard that what before was a practical joke, he has now made happen.

Buddy is an aspiring teenager who is a very good musician and has pressure to go further than his Dad's teddy boy rocker days. However, when his father is sent away for a year for covering up for criminal Des, it puts further strain on the family relationship.
