Lal Krishna Viradiyar (Suresh Gopi), a lawyer who dispenses his own sense of justice by proving criminals to be innocent in court & later killing them secretly, takes up the case for 9 female medical students accused of murdering & dismembering a freshman student, Chinthamani Warrier (Bhavana), with the intention of freeing them & exacting his revenge later. But as the case advances, Lal Krishna learns that the accused are actually innocent & someone else is responsible for Chinthamani's death.
Vigneshwar aka Vicky (Prithviraj), college hero & college union chairman gets a raw deal when his girlfriend Anu Zacharias (Geethu Mohandas) mistakes him for having sheared the locks of her friend Meera, to go through with a bet. An indignant Anu snugs up to the new boy in college, Delhi-raised John Rose (Indrajith), which pisses Vicky off. Soon, John & Vicky end up being bitter rivals, but then it turns out that they were half brothers. Not knowing this however, they continue to fight it out.
Mohan (Mammootty), a school teacher, who was crazy about acting, jeopardizes his teaching career & family in search of a role. After being told by a director that Mohan needs to know the characters better for a violent crime movie the director was planning, Mohan joins a criminal gang to observe them in the hope of bagging a role in the movie, but soon is unwittingly drawn himself into the world of crime.
Based on the 11 July 2006 Mumbai train bombings, the film is a take on the lives of Malayali families affected by the bomb blasts. Police officer Kedarnath (Mammootty), after losing his wife & elder daughter to a terrorist attack, is ever suspicious & a keen observer. He gets suspicious of a stranger at a train station & goes on a mission to track him down, who later turns to be the gang leader of the group responsible for the blasts.
Mobsters Ayyappan (Kalabhavan Mani) & Fakir (Vinayakan) come in search of their childhood pal & ex-mobster Tony (Asif Ali), who was now living with his wife (Nithya Menon) & kid, to take him back to their boss Prakash Kamath (John Vijay), whom Tony & their 2 other pals - Geevarghese (Indrajith) & Benny (Rahman) - had tried to kill. However, they find Geevarghese & Benny there, holding them off. Tony convinces them all to pull off a final job to secure his family's future before going to Kamath.
After rising concerns about cancer, the Kerala government bans gutka (chewing tobacco) in the state & appoints an 'Anti-Gutka Squad' lead by cop Shambu (Indrajith), who ruthlessly cracks down on the migrant workers in the state who were widespread users of it. This leads to a group of youngsters to enter into the gutka black market, & when Shambu busts that ring, they start a noodle business. Meanwhile Shambu was on the lookout for Bada Bhai (Sunny Wayne), the main supplier of contraband gutka.
Iyob, a slave-turned-master rules over his tea estate with his 2 ruthless sons Ivan (Jinu Joseph) & Dimitri (Chemban Vinod Jose), while his youngest son Aloshi (Fahadh Faasil) stays aloof from their brutality. After Ivan & Dimitri tries to kill Aloshi, he is brought back to life by his hunter friend Chemban (Vinayakan). After his recovery, Aloshi teams up with Chemban & his childhood friend Martha (Isha Sharvani) to rebel against his own family.
Four strangers - jewelry salesgirl Teena (Aparna Nair), insurance agent Veermani (Jayasurya), photographer Firoz (Vinay Forrt) & petty criminal Thampi (Vinayakan) - are involved in a stabbing incident inside an elevator, which leaves Thampi dead, Veermani & Firoz hospitalized & Teena arrested for murder, as the cops try to unravel what happened.
Chandramohan (Dileep), a government employee frustrated with his nagging wife's Sushama's (Anusree) constant phone calls to check on his whereabouts, falls for a tale from an astrologer about him being the reincarnation of Tamil poet Vel Kozhu Kottuvan (Dileep), & that he is fated to unite with his lover, dancer Vasanthamallika (Namitha Pramod), one from whom he was separated in a previous life. This leads Chandramohan to chase dancer Geethanjali (Namitha Pramod), but Sushama finds out about it.
Steve Lopez (Farhaan Faasil), a college student, gets embroiled in an internecine war between two rival street gangs, after he takes one of the gang members to the hospital & saves his life. Later, he is kidnapped by the rival gang, but his kidnappers get attacked by the other gang. Steve escapes, but later he tries to find out what happened to Hari (Sujith Shankar), one of his kidnappers that Steve had left alive with his father, George (Alancier Lay), a cop.
Krishna, Ganga and Balan have the world at their feet; after all, they are the blood and sand of Kammatti Paadam.
