1920, on the border between Mexico and Belize. Deep in the Mayan jungle, a lawless territory where myths abound, a group of Mexican gum workers cross paths with Agnes, a mysterious young Belizean woman. Her presence incites tension among the men, arousing their fantasies and desires. Filled with new vigor, they face their destiny, without knowing that they have woken up Xtabay, a legendary being that lurks in the heart of the jungle. (Rubén Imaz)
The deterioration of a small community in Fogo Island is forcing its inhabitants to leave and resettle. Places once occupied by humans are now becoming part of the tundra landscape. In spite of a condemn future, there are some residents who decide to remain, holding on to their memories and grieving for the past, when life in Fogo was different. (quinzaine-realisateurs.com)
Luisa is 25 years old and fighting a heroin addiction. Having escaped the city she finds herself seeking repose in a fading beach resort that rests on the lush seaside hills of Veracruz, Mexico.
The director's own grandmother, Rosa, tells the story about a mysterious friend and tenant, the (probably) gay and possibly schizophrenic artist Jorge. Although he died fifteen years ago, Jorge still occupies Rosa's mind as well as her house, among other things she has his peculiar paintings and drawings hanging on the walls. (Kosmorama.no)
