Amadeus (1984) is a fictionalized account of the rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri, a court composer in Vienna. Salieri is deeply jealous of Mozart's genius and begins to plot his downfall. He commissions Mozart to write a Requiem, believing it will be his last work. As Mozart's health declines, Salieri becomes increasingly consumed by guilt and despair.

This is an interesting docudrama about four weeks in the life of famous Czech composer Antonin Dvorak, played here with elan by Josef Vinklar. At the beginning of the story Lidice is just one of many small Czech villages trying to survive the war as best as it can. Day-to-day existence within the Protectorate flows along almost serenely and the biggest upheaval is a pub brawl where by accident a drunk father kills his own son. Radio announcer Petrícek reads the evening news in a studio. Viki, the female editor of a woman's program, is annoyed by the stereotypical information he provides as well as by the speaker's melodious voice and his heart-felt performance. Then she gets an idea for a prank. She calls the speaker from the neighboring room on the phone and pretends to be an unhappily married woman who draws all her strength to live from Petrícek's voice.
The opera lady singer Ema Destinnová (Bozidara Turzonovová) is in all her splendor at the American stages. But in Europe, there rages war and she decides to return home to Bohemia. As an enthusiastic patriot, she takes over a small cape on the back of which is a coding chart designated for the anti-Austrian revolt.
