"Fritz Lang uses every trick in the book to make the film so thrilling that it gets under your skin. The lack of a soundtrack may seem strange at first, but it adds depth to the film in the context of the story. Just a few years after the advent of the talking film, Lang demonstrates his mastery of the diverse uses of sound, employing voice-overs, themes and dramatic effects to great effect. The rousing and creative screenplay makes the film perfect."
Nanook of the North (1922) - Rated 25 Jul 2025
"Slow-paced string of separate episodes with lots of smiling inuits."
Felix Saves the Day (1922) - Rated 25 Jul 2025
"Slightly racist, some funny ideas, cool incorporation of real world photography."
Sharp Objects (2018) - Rated 24 Jul 2025
"I really dig the editing, the soundtrack. They create the overall vibe, which is somehow sorrow and trauma and peace. Story and acting was also good except for some plotholes."
Un Chien Andalou (1929) - Rated 20 Jul 2025
"She could seduce anybody with that doorbell!"
Feline Follies (1919) - Rated 19 Jul 2025
"Cute with some cool ideas, but long texts and questionable moral"
The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) - Rated 18 Jul 2025
"Creative and intricate handwork of Delicate silhouettes. But it does not draw from the creativity of earlier films: Only some color variation, shallow characters, only steady camera, not even smooth transitions. And the story is far-fetched, sexist and maybe racist. The trickery and visuals improve towards the end."
The Wicker Man (1973) - Rated 18 Jul 2025
"Perfect story, acting, score. I still listen to the soundtrack."
The Bear (2022) - Rated 16 Jul 2025
"Has some incredible episode. Is brave in its style. Every character has an interesting backstory. Great acting, great editing."
The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) - Rated 08 Jul 2025
"Exciting and intense from the start thanks to the script, camera, and acting. The Close-ups build tension/emotion and let you feel what she felt. How they try to frame her reminds me of Häxxan. In total, the experimental nature of the film was bold and impressive."
