"This movie plays with cause and affect. The characters are done well in that they are all distinct from each other and mostly consistent with themselves. Seemingly unimportant lines will foreshadow things to come. One might feel that the "rules" of the scenario presented to us are too open-ended. The viewer is unable to unravel the logic of any given plot thread. We can see the chain of events, but are prevented from knowing our place in them. We are, intentionally, as lost as the characters."

"This review is based on the first three episodes. I was at first underwhelmed given the show's budget and IP. The visuals and style of some races are done well, but the writing, dialog, and initial plot are mediocre. Episode 3 didn't make any improvements. I wanted to see this because of the show's notoriety and because it is based on Tolkien's writing. If the story were based on some other setting, I probably wouldn't consider watching past episode 3."
