50 34% Crimson Peak (2015) - Rated 17 Dec 2015
"I am a fan of Guillermo, nonetheless, that said, I think this one was rather weak. The imagery is beautiful, picturesque even, but the main character is too naive, the evil sister is too obvious, the plan for the character of Mia Wasikowska is too evident. And then the ghosts - nice animation, but they kind of feel as if they should've been in some other film rather than this one."
11 9% The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (2007) - Rated 05 Dec 2015
"Normally I would not write anything about this, but given it was as bad as it was, I must. For the sake of others :) If you: 1)like good plot, 2)good acting, 3)good special effects, 4)well written dialogues, 5)well constructed scenes, 6)a followable line of thought, 7)intelligently made fairy tale, then DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. It is anything but. I'm exaggerating, but just a bit. Good side to the film: they speak Scottish. Well done."
88 65% Predestination (2014) - Rated 26 Dec 2014
"Really good work in terms of directing and acting, and really loves the way this whole story becomes a mind-bending-maze and keeps you in a lasting suspense, ever growing, ever more intriguing."
70 46% Byzantium (2012) - Rated 22 Dec 2014
"The idea is really great, but the realization of it left me disappointed. I believe that the characters merit more work from a screenwriter, a good idea for a story is not enough for the film to become an intense experience. Thumbs up for beautiful work of the D.o.P."
80 59% 20,000 Days on Earth (2014) - Rated 22 Nov 2014
"Probably - if not for Nick Cave and his beautiful writing, and his wisdom, and the dark gloomy poetry - it would be just another good documentary. But well it is NC's beautiful writing, wisdom and gloomy poetry, thus it becomes something more than a mere egocentric documentary voyage. Loved it."
90 75% American Interior (2014) - Rated 16 Nov 2014
"Real great fun watching this film. Nothing at all as I had expected it would be reading that i's a road documentary. I'd never listened to this music on any other occasion, but here all of it - great humor, the settings, the quest, mesmerize and make it a worthwhile doc indeed. A bit too long, I'd cut some ten-fifteen mins off of it really."
45 25% The Company of Wolves (1984) - Rated 05 Nov 2014
"Mediocrity of a film. Watched it 'cause I found it in a list amongst the horror films worth seeing for their setting and art-side, but ah well, here comes the disappointment. Plain mediocre acting, plain mediocre stories, flat characters... I found the B-movies sort of special effects being the most amusing part of the film!"
45 25% Red Riding: 1983 (2009) - Rated 05 Nov 2014
"Ah, going down. Well this seems like the real disappointment after the fairly good start. A goofy main character of the episode doesn't even work as the main character as the scriptwriter hadn't decided which will be the main one. Really sad camera-wise: seems a somewhat cheap-ish TV-film, and what's with those terrible slow motion sequences? That's just plain tasteless, as is, by the way, the last sequence of the film. Ruined my day."
60 40% Red Riding: 1980 (2009) - Rated 05 Nov 2014
"Less intense than the first one of the trilogy. The stories of the characters are a bit too flat and have the feel of hastiness to them."
75 53% Red Riding: 1974 (2009) - Rated 05 Nov 2014
"I liked the way the story was being developed and the way it remained a mystery, though not in a bullshit way which is often practiced by series (trilogies and others) creators. This film of the trilogy made it seem the other two worthwhile as well."
