86 90% Dune: Part Two (2024) - Rated 06 Mar 2024
"Visually incredible. Audioly incredible. Amazing world building, great performances. So many cool set pieces. Nothing bad to say really. Epic cinema experience."
78 50% Deadpool 2 (2018) - Rated 17 Feb 2024
"Watching this for the first time so long after it came out may have helped but I really enjoyed it. I was worried the constant self-aware gags would grind on me but they didn't. Plenty of laughs, and some good action sequences. Cable is really cool, and Domino is a great character, would like to see more of her. Loved how it felt close to the x-men film universe."
83 81% The Iron Claw (2023) - Rated 17 Feb 2024
"Incredibly tragic true story. Great performances, not least in the ring. Its quite amazing how they took on these roles, bulking up loads and learning to pull off the moves in the ring in such a short time. Thought provoking topics of toxic masculinity and pushing people too far."
80 65% Saltburn (2023) - Rated 10 Feb 2024
"I'm not really sure what the message is, and some parts may come across as provocative for the sake of it, but I enjoyed the ride. Also the soundtrack is spot on, they recreate an era well. I found Promising Young Woman similar, the bold twisted style takes over. That did have a clearer point to make though."
50 5% The Marvels (2023) - Rated 07 Feb 2024
"There's a lot of zapping and some cats."
66 14% The Creator (2023) - Rated 05 Feb 2024
"The visual effects and world design are that cast is decent enough, but the story is lacking, particularly the ending. Considering the topic of AI it could have been a lot more thought-provoking and explored the concept deeper."
78 50% Wonka (2023) - Rated 06 Jan 2024
"I didn't think the world needed a Wonka prequel but fair play, some how it was good. The right mix of weird funny and clever. Plenty of heart, decent story and pacing. Good cast. Lots of surprises faces from British comedy."
80 65% The Boy and the Heron (2023) - Rated 06 Jan 2024
"Trippy and bizarre with beautiful animation and memorable characters"
60 9% Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) - Rated 24 Dec 2023
"Happened. It looked and sounded good at least."
64 12% Dumb Money (2023) - Rated 28 Sep 2023
"As someone who bought GME at the time and was involved the events depicted in the film, I was quite disappointed. it didn't capture it all that well for me. Roaring kitty was portrayed a bit too loserish, it lacked detail on some of the mechanics and ended up being a pretty formulaic David vs goliath tale. Lacking much style or punch. The ending tried to make out the consequences of the whole thing on the future of investing were really profound and I'm not sure they were."
