First Story: An interesting premise and antagonist is ruined by being cartoonishly evil with nonsensical motivation. This series consistently fails to understand that making villains devoid of humanity just makes them uninteresting as characters. And when the protagonists just leave the story, there's nothing left to grab on to. 2/5 Second Story: Goes exactly where you think, and takes forever to get there. 2/5

Evil Dead Burn (2026) - Rated 12 Oct 2026

A surprisingly affecting story of accepting and overcoming an abusive relationship is pushed to the back in this vibrant gore-fest. Great effects (practical and CG) mixed with great action keeps up the tension the plot leaves behind. I miss the murder glee from the Deadites in other entries, as they are much more generic horror flick "spooky" here, but it's not that noticeable of a loss as the tone is more serious overall. Solid bodily fluid filled Massacre.

There is little more cringe-inducing than characters playing nerds who are clearly not aware of the things they're supposed to be nerdy about. This first episode is a vomit of, "Hey! I like that thing too!" which fails so spectacularly in its attempt at reverence that it makes me feel bad for being the horror fan I am. Negative points for cheaping out on the one gore scene by putting it in the crappy comic. 1/5 Story two seems potentially interesting, but goes nowhere. Waste of cool demon. 1/5

Casting Ethan Embry in a character quite similar to his in the fantastic 'Incident on and off a mountain road' provides a great contrast as to how a skilled director can use a character's politics to inform their personality. And how a bad director uses a character's politics as a placeholder for said personality. Cool root monster wasted. 1/5 Second story has a unique premise which, after painful foreshadowing, devolves into boring minion chase. Cool bee monster wasted. 2/5

Middling to bad stories made worse by some of the tales having interesting potential but never delivering. The abandonment of the classic horror comic style for some well-done but out of place modern animation speaks to the palpable feeling of cheapness that saturates this show.

Very cool concept and execution ruined by a far too long episode which goes exactly where you think but takes forever to get there. Superficial characters, trite conflict, and an uninspired conclusion leaves what could have been something new, feeling tired for the painfully long runtime.

First story is a simple tale of greed, but I have very little patience for cartoonishly evil villains and protagonists who are perfect angels. A well-acted tale with a unique monster is brought down by bashing you in the face with the 'message' rather than creating real characters. 2/5 Second story is one of the more boring Lovecraft inspired tales I've seen. Dull characters, dull plot, dumb actions, and a generic monster could not be saved even by Tasha Yar. 1/5

First story is a well-plotted basic tale of the cost of jealousy. But the fact that a far too long exposition-dump is delivered by a puppet they couldn't be bothered to even give lips to takes many points off in a show ostensibly based around practical effects. 2/5 Second story's twist is clear from the start, but fresh framing makes it interesting throughout. Hero comes dangerously close to insufferable, but manages to make it work. 3/5
