Drive-Away Dolls (2024) - Rated 16 Oct 2026
Just funny enough, lacks substance.

Hope (2026) - Rated 15 Oct 2026
Truly funny how it leans into its own ridiculousness while also serving great action scenes and set design, but overly long and repetitive chases made for a messy pacing. While the CGI served its purpose well in the first hour and in most of the chaotic scenes,it completely failed when things slowed down,so much so that it ruined the whole ambiance. The bits of alien culture & biology that are teased throughout are intriguing, but the strength here lies with the mundane protagonists.Annoying ending.

O'Dessa (2025) - Rated 11 Oct 2026
Very amateurististic story, acting (except for the two leads) and directing, at times managing to even make Sink look like an awkwardly mediocre actress. Fails to bring an actual steampunk ambiance, but some of the songs do have merit (except for the lyrics) and are performed well. It all feels like a highschool project on steroids. Sadie Sink has a great voice, especially in the acoustic songs, but she fails to convincingly convey the climax of the film with its (lacking) final song.

The Gentlemen (2024) - Rated 09 Oct 2026
Lovely. Being a Skins fan, I feel Scodelario was made for Susie's role (or the other way around?) Everything feels like a stretched out Ritchie film, which finally gives room for the characters not just to be cool or funny, but to develop and have emotional depth. The second season especially manages to deliver here. I also love the quirky symbolism, the larger-than-life perspective and the little history and theology lessons, mostly provided by Johnston. Elemental (2023) - Rated 08 Oct 2026
Checks all the Pixar boxes, great visuals, a human migration and "impossible love" story expressed by other extremes (natural elements).

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026) - Rated 06 Oct 2026
Looks great, expected weirdness and meta storytelling, so that checked the boxes. Funny how long it took before the antagonist's name clicked. Visually stunning, great leads, but easy to get lost a bit too much, especially in the unnecessary awkward moments (I'll just go watch Hacks if I want to see that).

The End of Oak Street (2026) - Rated 06 Oct 2026
Visually appealing and somewhat nostalgic, but it feels distant and somehow without real stakes, despite the careful buildup. I feel only Hathaway brings real emotion to the screen here. The use of the score to assert emotion is also mostly absent, which was aggravated by the problematic (voice/music) mix (which may have been caused by bad 2.1 downmixing).

Just Like a Woman (2012) - Rated 06 Oct 2026
With some terrible performances by supporting actors and truly awkward and amateuristic dancing, this is at times extremely hard to watch. That said, the two leads do a well enough job with the material they've been handed, with all of the emotional depth singlehandedly delivered by Farahani.

One Night Only (2026) - Rated 03 Oct 2026
Just focus on Barbaro's smile and you'll enjoy it well enough.
