The Vortex

The Vortex (2025) - Rated 01 Jun 2026

I was invited to a premiere screening last year before it was released in a limited theatrical run and I was really impressed. The richness of this chamber drama/character study embodied everything I like to see in a film-- rich metaphor, consistent tone, smart character development, and layered, nuanced dialogue. Great acting (Billy Gardell) and the ensemble of actors along with a jazz score that elevated the dramatic stakes of a man lost to addiction was compelling and riveting. Loved it!
