89 91% | A History of Violence (2005) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Cronenberg does it again. A deceptively simple thriller that actually works as a dissertation on violence, epistemic or physical, that intrudes in the home, the workplace and even in one's own marriage."

35 13% | North Country (2005) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Niki Caro seems obsessed with wanting to move the audience to tears by mercilessly beating Theron's Josie down to award her martyr status. It's difficult to believe even a single moment in this film, filled to the brim with self-important speeches about how difficult the lives of these characters are. The finale is appalling; I am shocked that audience members stood for it. It borders on offensive."

"Campy good fun. It has a sense of humour about itself, and this is its greatest success. Tom Cruise gives what may be his best performance, and the production values are delicious."
