50 56% The Revenant (2015) - Jan 23, 2016
"A plodding and cynical tale of an actor who tries way too hard and a director obsessed with flowing water, branches, and stacks of buffalo skulls. Also one of the most pretentious cuts to credits I've seen in a awhile that left the audience at my screening momentarily perplexed before everyone shuffled out in silence. Fury Road this is not."
55 70% Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) - Jan 06, 2016
"The most heavily hyped movie since the Phantom Menace. While it is a relief that the film isn't awful (after ruining the Star Trek franchise, JJ Abrams had me nervous) there is a clear lack of advancement or evolution in the universe. If anything the universe of Star Wars feels smaller by anchoring itself to the same characters, conflicts, and formulas as the previous films. Too many needless action sequences limited opportunities for depth or audience investment."

"Its weird that a movie about the power of optimism ended up being aimless, incoherent, and depressing."
