"The "Vito Russo test" created by the LGBT organization GLAAD tests for the representation of LGBT characters in films. It asks: Does the film contain a character that is identifiable LGBT, and is not solely or predominantly defined by their sexual orientation or gender identity, as well as tied into the plot in such a way that their removal would have a significant effect? (Wikipedia; https://www.glaad.org/sri/2014/vitorusso). Also, when in doubt it fails, so if you have to think too much about his/her importance into the plot then it goes here. The only exception is in anthologies: if there is a character—not necessarily the same one—in all the stories that fulfills the requirements then it passes."
