Review: A very unpleasant watch with a muddled, unsure theme. Saved by excellent performances by the young cast. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is amazing. If this had been an actual review, I'd have pitched up the score (this *is* a good movie), but this was in no way enjoyable.

Review: A good movie (which may have been slightly overusing the visual metaphors in a grab for more 'respectability'), this has an interesting - if predictable - twist and offers some nice moral questions, but fails to add depth in the way the questions are asked. What we're left with is a movie which handles heavy-handed themes with respect, but for no real apparant reason. A missed opportunity.

Review: An incredible movie, putting forward interesting (and disturbing) moral dilemma's. The movie questions the good of our ordered society in interesting, fresh ways, by litterally having two oppossing sides of the argument duke it out on screen. What's more, Ledger's anarchist, chaotic Joker is the scariest, most impressive villain to grace our screens in a long, long time. A must-see.

Review: The Hulk's 2008 incarnation is a true blockbuster in every sense of the word. With satisfying, highly energetic action scenes, solid acting (Norton and Roth steal the show, while Hurt and Tyler do excellent jobs) and a convincing, streamlined story, this has all the makings of a classic superhero movie. This is top-notch entertainment without pretense, proving yet again that Marvel studios is doing something right. If there's any justice in the world, Hulk should "smash" boxoffice records!

Review: At its best, The Nines is a wonderfully involving mind-fuck of a movie, reminiscent of a more distant, emotion-light Donnie Darko. At its worst, it's convoluted, unsure of its tone and being just weird-for-the-sake-of-weird (the musical bit, anybody?). But even then, it's hard not to respect what writer/director John August was trying to do. It may be pretentious or nonsensical in places, but it's brilliantly messed up in others. You'll never look at a koala bear the same way again. Recommended.

Review: An avarage movie, which could have been much more, Hancock starts out with an interesting premise (down-on-his-luck-unloved-superhero) and some nice spectacle, but ends as a standard sentimental Hollywood action comedy. Scrapes by because of Smith's natural charisma, some interesting action set-pieces and a few actually funny jokes. Unfortunately lacks in consistency of tone and in both internal and external plot logic. Missed upportunity, if not a bad movie.
