- The part where Ollie is eating the knife is so gross.

- I don't know if Danny and Michael Philippou are for me. This is a notable step up from Talk to Me for me. It's a completely solid horror movie but I don't know what it is about them. I suppose maybe it's how they can take an interesting idea, make it intriguing at first, but then the way it unfolds isn't that compelling.

- For example, the opening with the VHS tapes. Instantly sets high expectations. I thought this might get to an 80 at least. Made me wonder what the hell was going on. But they didn't revisit it that much. When they did, it was memorable, could have used more.

- Maybe though it's a me problem. I find that I'm often disappointed with "twists" or how plots unfold. It could be that there just isn't that many ways left to tell a story, so seeing as many movies as I've had, I've seen them all. But this is another example of a movie where I get so invested with the reasons behind why this is all happening, and it's like, "Oh, it's a good drama about a grieving mother after her daughter dies and she wants to bring her back." Could just be that there isn't a ton left to explore.
Mini Review: It starts off strongly and disturbingly, and it does maintain a distressing tone the entire time. Seriously, there's maybe only a few moments of relief from what's going on, and even those moments end up getting darker. I appreciate that. And I love Sally Hawkins here. Her unhinged performance is the strongest aspect of this. There are some gruesome scenes. A decent drama but I found after a certain point the movie was predictable and just went through the motions. Still like it.
