Honey Don't!
This review contains spoilers
- I say that it's not predictable, and I mean that in the fact that really anybody can get it. I mean yeah, outside of a plot point or two, it's not really a big mystery, and yet the plot unfolds at a good pace, always throwing something at you. And it doesn't overstay its welcome. It doesn't have to be a 2 hour neo noir: it knows what it is. In and out.
- An example of a way it leads you that I found endearing. When Hector kills a dude, and then a guy goes to kill him but ends up getting killed by Hector as well, only to have Hector kind of unceremoniously killed a couple scenes later. I enjoyed it because Hector didn't come across like a badass, but then he kind of was. And then when you start to think that, bam, he's done.
- Or Evan's death. Finally has sex with this French chick, and he asks why she changed her mind and she's like, "So you could cum one last time," and after a few more sentences, he's done.
- This kind of storytelling doesn't always work. Truth be told, sometimes I'm cold on either of the Coens brothers. But I think Honey Don't! is a lot better than I'm seeing people give it credit for.

Mini Review: This is a really good cast, though Plaza feels a little underused. Evans is great as a criminal priest. Day is kind of amusing. But really, the main reason I enjoy this so much is because of Qualley's stoic, sassy lesbian private investigator. She's good the right look and delivery to make this all work. The story itself is a lot of fun in how it's messy and leads you to places that aren't so predicable. Plus, it's trashy in a good way with violence, sex and nudity.
