As movies with a transparent social agenda go, and as telemovies go, this is a bit better done than average, with a strong central performance. Of course, intended as an intervention into a debate, it proves inevitably one-sided. This viewer found this film very difficult to watch, but this is certainly in large part due to calling up not-so-distant memories of the illness and death of my mother, who like the protagonist here was a doctor clear-sightedly aware of how her illness would progress.
