A book-obsessed woman dies before achieving her dream job as a librarian. She wishes that, whatever happens to her, she can read. So, she's transported into the body of a young girl named Main in an impoverished family in a world without the printing press (as well as several other modern technologies). With even paper, let alone books, being absurdly expensive beyond her reach, and with little at her disposal, she'll do anything to read in this charmingly detailed world-built slice-of-life.
