The battle for succession that continued for three generations of shogun in the Keichou era culminated in a gruesome battle of ninja arts between the Kouga and Iga clans. Amidst a rain of flower petals, a man and woman who had decided to live for love were separated once again, beautiful in their transience. (imdb)

As a sequel to Basilisk this sucks and even as a stand alone anime the first half of the series isn't good. But oddly enough around the half way point the anime finds its footing and starts to channel Buichi Terasawa and there were plenty of parallels to Raven Tengu Kabuto. The series seems to get better as it went on and by the end of the series I half to admit I had a good time although if I ever watched this again I'd skip the first 14 episodes or so.
