I can't think of many short-lived series I love more than Big Apple. It had an excellent cast, with a story that gave them all an important role in unlocking. It also marked a forgotten transitional moment between bigger, more historically important series, as a partnership between a creator of Miami Vice and the future creator of Deadwood. Thematically, the show falls in between NYPD Blue and the Wire. It has some stilted, awkward dialog, but the strength of the story hides it well.
