One of Dennis Potter's stronger works, a masterful "day in the life of" that starts as rural comedy and develops into a thematically complex dark drama. The "adults playing kids" kinda-gimmick, kinda-pesudo commentary works surprisingly well, and the film is convincingly naturalistic. It's not perfect, but it's a commendable work regardless.
