The filmmakers seem to have relied on the inherent interest of the material and didn't bother to ask very widely or penetrate very deeply. The situation with the daughters is tragic and sympathetic, but the quickness and frequency with which the mother deploys the phrase "mind control", as if it were a full stop and required no further consideration or investigation, gives the program a very superficial air. The picture of the whole situation and how the cult runs is never made terribly clear.

Honestly made me feel a bit sick. I think that some things, even partially censored, shouldn't be shown. The story told was horrific, but we were never given much context for it, no other ex members were interviewed and it seemed as if we were expected to have prior knowledge as to how the cult operated.
