Not terribly interesting example of Ken Russell's biopic style, although as usual there are moments of visual genius that are breathtaking. Sort of an embryonic example of the fabulous excesses to come. Oliver Reed's work makes it eminently watchable, and the fantasy sequence involving his dead wife is classic Russell.
