This hard-boiled drama based on Arthur Hailey's novel traces the efforts of Miami detective Malcolm Ainslie (Tom Berenger) to find the person responsible for a string of local murders, all of which make reference to the Bible. (Good thing the gumshoe used to be a priest.) Meanwhile, in his chaotic personal life, Ainslie's pressed to make a choice between his attractive young partner (Annabeth Gish) and his wife (Cybill Shepherd).
