I knew Frank Pierson was not to be trifled with, but still didn't expect a teleplay to be so spectacularly written and devised (by Ilene Chaiken of "Barb Wire" fame? I'm sure the credit should go to Pierson). Though I doubt it will appeal to those who balk at its unabashed socio-political agenda, its text is top-notch (better than "The People vs. Larry Flint"), it gives off deep understanding of artistic and social issues, and the inclusion of archival footage and new interviews is seamless.
