Definitely corny, and unafraid to be cheesy, but damn it all if Parton doesn't completely wear down my defenses with her irresistible likability and good will, while incorporating the old "let's put on a show" workhorse plot, with just enough lightly sardonic side eye to let you know all and sundry are in on the joke. Tuneful, toe-tapping soundtrack helps, but individual enjoyment will correlate to your fondness for Dolly herself - though cynics of any stripe probably needn't apply!
