In December 1981, Yossi Ghinsberg, Kevin Gale, and Marcus Stamm, go to the Bolivian Amazon, where they meet Karl Ruprechter, a man who promises to take them to a native tribe's village. Later, they abort the mission and raft down the Tuichi River. However, due to some disagreements, Stamm and Reprechter separate from Ghinsberg and Gale, who have to find their way to civilization.
