David Janssen was born to be a TV star. The Janssen family settled in Hollywood when he was a teenager and he attended Fairfax High School, where he developed an interest in acting. The mother of Thora Birch started out as an actress in legitimate productions, making her big-screen debut playing a waitress in Red Line 7000 (1965), but she could not get a break in Hollywood. Frustrated after five years without making it, she turned to adult entertainment in 1970. She starred in about 20 hardcore films, some with husband, Jack Birch.
