If "The Year Without a Santa Claus" was remade as a cynical and creepy 80's TV movie, where instead of any Christmas fun, we got Charles Durning as a burnt-out Santa, Bruce Vilanch as a bumbling overgrown elf, and "Issac" from "The Love Boat" as a con-artist who talks through a fake parrot on his shoulder. Unfortunately, as fun as that might seem, the movie is far more boring than it is bizarre. Instead it's just generic holiday family TV fodder for those in desperate need of their Yuletide fix.
