Some anti-immersive techniques make it more interesting, but this being German TV they’re third or fourth-hand (and the clear highlight, episode 5, has the least of them). Kehlmann does his usual thing of smug genius worship *combined* with smug ridiculing of the genius’s eccentric habits (see Moritz Baßler on this), though it is a bit less prominent here since he’s not solely responsible. Recommended if you want to take part in German intellectual dinner party conversation – but hurry.
