Premise sounded interesting, but it just didnt work out.

The subversiveness of the series is helping the score quite a bit. The acting is pretty solid except sometimes from Tammy and Patty. The general theme is confidently apparent, but some aspects might not be developed enough for a general audience to grasp all of the critiques. Neil is an interesting character that I could see people like Neil missing the entire point of.

I can't stand that exaggerated acting, the complete opposite of subtle.

It's incredible how spot-on the sitcom parts of the show are. Makes you think back to how most of the shows we loved in the 90s trade on cruelty masked as sweetness - before they became self-aware about it with Seinfeld, It's Always Sunny...

The concept of mixing single camera and multicamera TV formats, of grounded realist drama and escapist situation comedy, is kind of brilliant. Despite the experimental form, the result never comes off as overly intellectual. The sense of place and the casting are perfect.
