18yi Urano Suzu (arranged) marries Hojo Shusaku shifting from Eba City to Kure City near Hiroshima in a rustic house high above Japan's principal naval base mid WW2. As Japan slides deeper into a war it can never win, the people go on with their "ordinary" lives. Supplies are increasingly short, family & friends get sent to the battlefield.
