The first part was more enjoyable than the last. This is probably because the story is more cheerful then. But also I just did not like Judy Davis in the role - I have seen her give outstanding performances but here I was just very concious of there being miming. Tammy Blanchard as the young Judy Garland always got the musical matching right as well as giving more energy to the film. First time I have seen Hugh Laurie in a serious role.
