Perfect movie, except for the kid who cusses. Why do we need to hear a cussing kid? Adds nothing to the film, except trashiness, and this film isn't meant to be trashy.

Intriguing, slow-burn drama never really shifts into high gear, but also remains tantalisingly elusive about what is actually happening between the Mirren and Sedgwick characters, with some subtle echoes of PERSONA -- both actresses are terrific in this regard, and as a tweaking of the formula coming-of-age movie (directed by Bacon, the stalwart of such films) it actually scores a few points -- not enough to warrant a total recommendation, but certainly worthwhile for the curious.
