This is a new adaptation of the novel rather than a remake of the Hitchcock film, but even so, it's hard not to compare if you've seen the 1938 film... and honestly, this one doesn't come out well. All the humour of Hitch's version is gone and Tuppence Middleton's character is thoroughly unlikeable. Add in the flat direction, the colourless cinematography and the over-bearing music and it all comes off as a bit of a dud.
