This show embodies what I loved about 90s Nickelodeon and a lot of early 00s CN shows like The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, in that it maintains a sick sense of humor and some absolutely creepy/strange characters. Flapjack didn't always hit the mark, but its assured style, self-awareness, and charisma surely carried it much farther than it should have gone. It was truly the harbinger of a new era of animators who would bring more contemporary sensibilities to children's cartoons.
