An expectedly well produced, at times stunningly photographed entry into the Attenborough stable, however the narrow focus on animal mating habits mean that many of the scenarios depicted have a repetitive quality to them (“boy gets girl” with the alpha male usually out on top!) At its best when spotlighting the animals with more extraordinary, unorthodox mating habits (the blowfish is almost existentially terrifying); as always Attenborough steers a steady ship with his comforting narration.
