Standard TV movie fare is a sincere and well-acted tale that would have been better if it had been a little more ambitious and hard edged in its treatment of the worst aspects of the closeted, hemmed-in world of the Amish; as it is, Panabaker does fine work with what she has, and the story itself is decently compelling. Some nice supporting work from Saunders as a town elder.
