Peter Brook boils the play down to its "most Shakespearean". While I prefer the whole thing, this is my most entertaining 21st century Hamlet. Avoids a contemporary setting in favor of something timeless and strange, emotionally muted while seething underneath. The multi-ethnic cast is outstanding - Lester's prince is great (though his antic side is understated) and Shivalinga is the best Ophelia ever. Only complaint: Same actor shouldn’t play both Ghost and King, though Kissoon is amazing.
