So all of a sudden, among things like THE POWERPUFF GIRLS that were ultimately "fantasy" anime for children, this one appeared on TV, with characters that actually looked like adults (even in a sexual way), a story about high school boys and girls starting bands and exploring their feelings for each other (at a time when such "puppy love" was simply a taboo in China!), and some good and fresh band music: oh. My. God. The fact that this could actually be made keeps amazing the viewer since then.
