Well it didn’t kill me, but it was a struggle: stilted and leaden comedy special feels hopelessly quaint and dated jumping on the back of the mockumentary craze of 10 years ago; wants to ape the Christopher Guest school of passive aggression erupting into aggression aggression, but Early and Berlant present as such unpleasant characters that it’s difficult to become invested in their relationship, compounded by the fact that their comedy material lacks focus and is really just not that funny.
