Am Siel (1962)

In his first documentary, Nestler uses a rather unconventional way of telling the story of a small Northern German seaside village. The protagonist and narrator is an old, worn-out dike sluice, expressing its very own nostalgic views of the people living in the village, situated at the other end of its floodgate. (Viennale)
