Big Sky

Life-or-death situations mean that mental illness disappears, apparently. Not without some interesting moments, but the whole film doesn't exactly click. Bella Thorne's best performance, though.

Bella's game, but the movie is bigger and busier than it needed to be. A story like this needed one setting--just Bella making her arduous, punishing journey across the landscape--and as few cutaways or minor characters as possible. Instead, Grau jumps away from the main action whenever he can, and populates this thing with all sorts of "quirky" supporting characters, including a frigging ghost. The result's nowhere near as memorable or affecting as it could have been.
